मुंबई: भारतीय संगीत विश्वाचा बुलंद आवाज आणि कोट्यवधी चाहत्यांच्या मनावर तब्बल सात दशके राज्य करणाऱ्या ज्येष्ठ पार्श्वगायिका आशा भोसले यांचे दुःखद निधन झाले. वयाच्या ९२ व्या वर्षी त्यांनी अखेरचा श्वास घेतला. त्यांच्या निधनाने केवळ भारतीय संगीत क्षेत्रच नव्हे, तर जागतिक कलाविश्व शोकाकुल झाले आहे.

सात दशकांचा सांगीतिक प्रवास

आशा ताईंनी १९४३ मध्ये आपल्या गायकीच्या प्रवासाला सुरुवात केली. तेव्हापासून त्यांनी १००० हून अधिक चित्रपटांसाठी गाणी गायली. हिंदी, मराठी, बंगाली, गुजराती, पंजाबी यांसह २० हून अधिक भारतीय आणि परदेशी भाषांमध्ये त्यांनी आपली कला सादर केली. 'गिनीज बुक ऑफ वर्ल्ड रेकॉर्ड्स'मध्ये सर्वाधिक गाणी गाणाऱ्या गायिका म्हणून त्यांची नोंद झाली होती.

अष्टपैलू गायकी आणि वेगळेपण

आशा भोसले यांच्या गायकीचे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे त्यांचे वैविध्य. एकीकडे 'इन आँखों की मस्ती के' सारखी हळवी गझल, तर दुसरीकडे 'दम मारो दम' सारखे पाश्चात्य ढंगाचे गाणे त्यांनी तितक्याच ताकदीने गायले. मराठी भावगीते, भक्तीगीते आणि लावणीमध्येही त्यांनी आपला वेगळा ठसा उमटवला. त्यांच्या आवाजातील तोच तरूणपणा आणि उत्साह अखेरपर्यंत कायम होता.

पुरस्कार आणि सन्मान

त्यांच्या अफाट कामगिरीबद्दल भारत सरकारने त्यांना 'पद्मविभूषण' या सर्वोच्च नागरी सन्मानाने गौरविले होते. तसेच भारतीय चित्रपटसृष्टीतील सर्वोच्च असा 'दादासाहेब फाळके पुरस्कार' देऊनही त्यांचा सन्मान करण्यात आला होता.

एक न संपणारी पोकळी

आशा ताई केवळ एक गायिका नव्हत्या, तर त्या ऊर्जेचा एक अखंड स्रोत होत्या. आपल्या बहिणीप्रमाणेच म्हणजेच गानकोकिळा लता मंगेशकर यांच्या पावलावर पाऊल ठेवत त्यांनी भारतीय संगीताला जागतिक उंचीवर नेऊन ठेवले. दोन वर्षांपूर्वी लता दीदींचे आणि आता आशा ताईंचे जाणे, हे भारतीय संगीताच्या एका 'मंगेशकर युगाचा' अस्त मानला जात आहे.

आज जरी आशा ताई आपल्यात नसल्या, तरी त्यांनी गायलेली हजारो गाणी संगीतप्रेमींच्या मनात सदैव जिवंत राहतील. त्यांच्या पवित्र स्मृतीस भावपूर्ण श्रद्धांजली!

She breathed her last at the age of 92. Her demise has left not only the Indian music fraternity but the entire global artistic community in deep mourning.

A Musical Journey Spanning Seven Decades

Asha Tai began her singing journey in 1943. Since then, she sang for over 1,000 films. She showcased her artistic prowess in more than 20 Indian and foreign languages, including Hindi, Marathi, Bengali, Gujarati, and Punjabi. She held a place in the *Guinness Book of World Records* as the singer with the highest number of recorded songs.

Versatile Vocals and Uniqueness

The hallmark of Asha Bhosle's singing was her sheer versatility. On one hand, she sang soulful Ghazals like "In Aankhon Ki Masti Ke" with great sensitivity; on the other, she delivered Western-style tracks like "Dum Maro Dum" with equal power and conviction. She also left a distinct imprint on Marathi *Bhavgeete* (sentimental songs), devotional hymns, and *Lavani* folk music. The youthful vigor and enthusiasm characteristic of her voice remained undiminished until the very end.

Awards and Honors

In recognition of her monumental achievements, the Government of India honored her with the Padma Vibhushan, one of the nation's highest civilian awards. She was also bestowed with the Dadasaheb Phalke Award—the highest honor in Indian cinema—for her outstanding contribution to the film industry.

An Irreplaceable Void

Asha Tai was not merely a singer; she was an inexhaustible source of energy. Following in the footsteps of her sister—the legendary "Nightingale of India," Lata Mangeshkar—she elevated Indian music to a global pedestal. The passing of Lata Didi two years ago, followed now by that of Asha Tai, is being regarded as the end of a 'Mangeshkar Era' in Indian music.

Although Asha Tai is no longer amongst us today, the thousands of songs she sang will forever remain alive in the hearts of music lovers. A heartfelt tribute to her sacred memory!
